Holocaust Survival Day

Freddie Knoller with student

In November 2016, Freddie Knoller came to speak to the Sixth Formers about his life as a Holocaust survivor. The students felt extremely humbled to meet such an inspirational guest speaker.

During the day students took part in workshops and other activities to understand the Holocaust and Second World War. The highlight of the day was getting to hear 93 year old, Freddie Knoller’s life story. Freddie Knoller, an Auschwitz survivor, gave account of his life as a young Jewish man under the rule of Nazi Germany.  Students first watched a documentary of his life and then they put questions to Freddie.  All students found the experience and talk very moving.

“The video and talking to him made the past a lot more real. It brought history to life. I thought Freddie was an incredible, charismatic person considering everything he has been through. His life story was incredible to listen to and very thought provoking”   Britany, Year 13.
